A controversial and mysterious source called General SVR, known for posting shocking rumors about the Russian government, has claimed that Russia has secretly created a new virus that could trigger another global pandemic.
The same source says Russian scientists have already developed a vaccine for it. According to this claim, the virus is part of a plan to create worldwide chaos that would help Vladimir Putin or possibly a body double pretending to be him hold on to power during a political crisis inside the country.
General SVR has made many strange and bold claims in the past, including that Putin died from heart failure and that his frozen body is being kept inside a palace, while a lookalike now leads the country. They say this double is controlled by a powerful group called the “Politburo,” and that this group is preparing drastic actions to keep their grip on power if the situation in Russia becomes unstable.
In this new claim, General SVR says the so-called hawks in the Russian government have been working on a backup plan to deal with potential threats to their regime. That plan allegedly includes unleashing a new virus, which would lead to another global health emergency. According to the post, this virus has already been created and tested. The idea is that by sparking a new pandemic, the Russian government could shift attention away from its own problems, control the population more easily, and strengthen its hold on power.
The message adds that vaccine production facilities are already set up and ready to go. It suggests that creating a crisis on a global level could be a tactic to deal with problems at home—something that could become more common if the regime feels threatened.
At the moment, there’s no official proof to support these claims, and Russian President Vladimir Putin still appears to be in control. In fact, according to recent polls by Statista, Putin’s approval rating in Russia remains high—around 90%. That’s actually higher than it was in September 2022. However, it’s worth noting that during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, his popularity did drop.
Still, the source didn’t give clear details about why Putin’s position is supposedly at risk now. Putin is about to mark his 13th year in power during his current five-term rule. He previously served as president from 2000 to 2008, took a break when Dmitry Medvedev became president, then returned in 2012 and has stayed in charge ever since. Today, he leads a Russia that has become increasingly isolated on the global stage.
These rumors remain unconfirmed and come from a source that is known for spreading dramatic and unverifiable claims, but they reflect growing concerns and speculation about what’s really happening inside Russia’s leadership.
