As the situation turned tense and confusing, people inside the room reacted in different ways, but most of them followed instinct. The moment shots were heard and security started moving quickly, many guests dropped to the floor, hid under tables, or tried to stay out of sight. There was fear, confusion, and a rush to stay safe as Secret Service agents moved in and quickly escorted President Donald Trump and other important guests out of the area.
In the middle of all that chaos, one man stood out in a way nobody expected. Michael Glantz, a well-known agent from Creative Artists Agency, did not move from his seat at all. While people around him were ducking and trying to protect themselves, he stayed sitting calmly and even continued eating his meal. Cameras captured the moment clearly, showing him taking bites of his spring pea and burrata salad while everything else around him was in panic. The clip quickly spread online, and many people were shocked, confused, and even amused by how calm he looked.
After the video went viral, people started asking why he didn’t react like everyone else. Some thought he was being careless, while others believed he must have been very brave or simply unfazed. When he finally explained his actions, his reasons were much more simple and personal than people expected.
He said the first reason was his health. He has a bad back, and getting down onto the floor is not easy for him. He explained that if he tried to lie down like others, he might not be able to get back up without help. In a moment where everyone was reacting quickly, he knew his body wouldn’t cooperate the same way, so he chose to stay where he was.
His second reason showed a completely different side of his thinking. He said he is very particular about cleanliness and hygiene. The idea of lying down on the hotel floor, especially during such a formal event, did not sit well with him at all. He was wearing a new tuxedo and made it clear there was no way he was going to put himself on what he saw as a dirty floor. For him, that was simply not an option, no matter what was happening around him.
Even more surprising was how calm he felt during the whole situation. He later said he wasn’t nervous at all. He explained that being born and raised in New York had made him used to stressful or intense situations, so this didn’t shake him the way it might have affected others. He even added a light comment, saying he didn’t want to miss the show, which made many people react even more online.
Still, despite his calm attitude, he did have concerns. He mentioned that he was worried about one of his clients, Wolf Blitzer, who was reportedly closer to where the gunman opened fire. So while he stayed physically calm, he was still aware of the danger and thinking about others.
As for the incident itself, security forces acted very quickly. The suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, was stopped and taken into custody before things could get worse. One Secret Service agent was hit by a bullet, but thankfully, the protective vest absorbed the impact, and the officer is expected to recover. No one at the event suffered serious injuries, which many people saw as a huge relief considering how dangerous the situation could have become.
