Asda Issues Urgent Alert for Everyone Aged 60 and Over – Don’t Miss This

16views

Asda has announced a special offer for people aged 60 and over, making it easier for them to enjoy a warm meal at an affordable price. The supermarket is inviting older shoppers to visit any of its 205 stores and take advantage of a £1 meal deal.

Through the Winter Warmers programme, Asda is offering a bowl of soup, a bread roll, and unlimited tea or coffee for just £1. Customers can choose from three types of soup: tomato, chicken, or vegetable. This offer is designed to help pensioners during the colder months, especially as many are struggling with the rising cost of living.

The deal is available all day, every day, but only until the end of February. Asda hopes this will provide some relief to older people who may be finding it difficult to afford warm meals this winter.

To spread the word, Asda shared an announcement on Facebook, encouraging those aged 60 and over to visit their local Asda Café and enjoy the low-cost meal. They also released a video featuring a woman who tried the offer. In the clip, she showed her meal and said she had chosen the chicken soup that day. She described it as “nice and thick and hot” and said she would be coming back again soon.

Asda’s Community and Customer Champions are also inviting local groups and individuals over 60 to their Chatty Café events. These gatherings allow people to enjoy the £1 Winter Warmer meal while also socializing and meeting others in a warm, friendly environment.

This offer runs alongside Asda’s popular Kids Eat for £1 deal, which has been a huge success since it launched in June 2022. More than 4.9 million meals have been served through this initiative, with 1.8 million in the last year alone. Grandparents can bring their grandchildren along, meaning a meal for two adults and two children at Asda Café could cost as little as £4 in total.

Asda’s Commercial Vice President for Fresh and Frozen, Ian McEvans, explained why this programme is so important. He said many pensioners are worried about staying warm and affording food this winter due to rising living costs and fixed incomes. He pointed out that 1.2 million meals have already been served since the Winter Warmers initiative started, showing how much it is needed.

By bringing it back for 2024 and extending it through February, Asda hopes even more people will benefit. The supermarket wants to make sure older people have a warm place to eat, a hot drink, and a chance to connect with others during the winter months.
