UK Man Who Converted From Islam to Christianity Reveals What Happened to Him After Leaving Islam

Nissar Hussain, a man who has been living under police protection for nearly nine years, has strongly criticized Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer after the government introduced a new definition for Islamophobia. Speaking in an interview with GB News, Hussain said the decision has put his life in even greater danger. He warned that the move could silence people like him who speak openly about their experiences after leaving Islam.
Hussain said he believes the Prime Minister’s actions have effectively “signed his death warrant.” He spoke with deep frustration and anger, accusing the government of failing people who have converted from Islam to other religions. According to him, the new policies could make it harder for people to talk about their experiences or raise concerns without being accused of hate speech.
Hussain shared the painful story of what he and his family have gone through over the past several decades. He explained that he converted from Islam to Christianity in 1996. After that decision, he says his life changed dramatically. Instead of living peacefully, he and his family began facing threats, harassment, and violent attacks.
At the time, he had moved from Birmingham and was working hard to build a stable life. He had started a nursing career and was raising his children. He said nothing could have prepared him for the level of hostility and violence that followed after his conversion. According to him, the attacks happened at two different homes where his family lived.
Hussain said the harassment continued for years and eventually turned into serious violence. One of the most terrifying incidents happened when he was getting into his car. He said a group of men attacked him with pickaxes and beat him severely. He believes the attack happened simply because he had chosen to become a Christian.
He described the experience as one of the most frightening moments of his life. According to him, the attackers nearly killed him during the assault. He said he felt abandoned by the authorities and believes the system failed to protect him and his family.
During the interview, Hussain also criticized the government and local police for how they handled his situation over the years. He said that instead of protecting him, officials often treated him and his family unfairly when they tried to defend themselves.
He directly addressed Prime Minister Keir Starmer during the interview, accusing him of betraying the country and ignoring the struggles of people who have left Islam. Hussain said he believes the government has not taken the threats against ex-Muslims seriously enough.
He also said the situation forced him and his family into hiding after years of harassment and violence. According to him, they endured nearly two decades of abuse before authorities finally provided long-term police protection.
Hussain compared his experience to other cases where authorities were accused of ignoring serious problems for too long. He mentioned the grooming gang scandals in parts of the UK, such as the widely reported cases in Rotherham. In his view, the system failed victims in those situations as well, and he believes similar mistakes are being repeated.
He argued that Britain needs to have an honest and open discussion about religious extremism and freedom of belief. Hussain said he believes people should be able to question religious ideas or speak about their experiences without fear of punishment or violence.
The long years of threats have deeply affected his life. Hussain said that for the past nine years he and his family have lived under police protection because of the risks they face. He explained that he cannot freely move around in certain areas of the country without worrying about being attacked.
According to him, he constantly fears that someone could try to harm him in public. He worries about possible acid attacks, shootings, or other acts of violence. Hussain said this fear has become a daily reality for him and his family.
Despite the danger, he continues to speak out about what happened to him, saying the British public deserves to know what he believes is happening in the country.
In response to the situation, a spokesperson for Yorkshire Police previously said that hate crime is taken very seriously. The police said their main priority has been to work with different partners and agencies to reduce the risks faced by Hussain and his family.
They also said efforts have been made to put safety measures in place to protect him while also considering the impact on communities across West Yorkshire. According to the statement, authorities remain committed to ensuring his safety and responding to any threats or concerns that may arise.
