Shocking Video Shows Heathrow Chaos as Migrant Escapes Deportation and Sprints Across Active Runway

A serious and surprising incident happened at Heathrow Airport when a man who was supposed to be deported to India managed to escape from security officers and ran across an active runway.
The man was being taken to a plane at Terminal 2 on Sunday when he somehow freed himself from a waist restraint that was supposed to keep him secure. This caught everyone off guard because such restraints are usually tight and not easy to break free from.
After slipping out of the restraint, he suddenly ran across the tarmac, the large open space where planes move before taking off or after landing. He was dangerously close to moving aircraft, including planes getting ready to taxi or take off. The unexpected run shocked airport workers, security teams, and people nearby.
A plane enthusiast who was filming aircraft at the time captured the moment on video and shared it on YouTube through a channel called Big Jet TV. In the clip, the man is clearly seen sprinting across the runway while planes are around him.
This caused a temporary shutdown of plane movements for safety reasons. Air traffic had to be paused because having an unauthorised person on the runway is extremely dangerous. Planes cannot move freely when there’s a risk of someone being in their path, especially so close to jet engines, which are powerful and can cause serious harm.
Fortunately, the man didn’t get very far. A spokesperson from Mitie, the private company in charge of handling deportations and security escorts, said that the man was quickly caught and handed over to the authorities. After being detained, he was placed back onto the same flight that he was originally meant to board.
The Metropolitan Police were involved in the incident and helped bring the situation under control. They said airport activities resumed not long after, once it was confirmed that everything was safe again.
Aviation expert John Van Hoogstraten explained just how dangerous it is for anyone to be in that area without permission. He said that once someone who isn’t authorised gets onto the runway or near planes, it creates a huge safety concern. No one knows what they might do next, and there are many risks involved, especially around planes that are about to take off or land.
Heathrow Airport later released a statement saying they worked with all the relevant teams to respond quickly and make sure everything returned to normal. They confirmed that flights continued as usual after the incident was handled.
The Home Office, which oversees deportation operations, confirmed that Mitie has started a formal investigation to understand how the man managed to escape and to prevent it from happening again in the future. The company and the airport are both being contacted for further comments on the matter.
The entire event has raised serious questions about the safety procedures in place during deportations and how this kind of security breach could happen at one of the busiest airports in the world.
