Police step in after TV presenter’s ‘shocking’ question about Kate Middleton’s looks causes outrage
Narinder Kaur made a comment about Kate that many found “insensitive” after Kate attended events over the weekend. The comment has now led to police involvement after people reacted strongly to a “disgusting” question Kaur asked about Kate’s appearance.
It all started on Twitter when Kaur responded to a Daily Mail Online post about Kate’s “aged” appearance at the Remembrance Sunday event.
Kate, who is 42, attended two events: the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday, November 9, and the Remembrance Sunday service the next day.
Kaur, 51, asked why Kate seemed to look older, wondering if she smoked, which caused an uproar online. Many royal fans were shocked and upset by her words.
Kaur later admitted her comment was “stupid” and “insensitive” and explained she has since received a lot of “sexual, racial, and violent abuse” because of it.
In a video on Twitter, Kaur said: “I made a stupid tweet – I didn’t mean to be nasty.”
She added, “It was silly to comment on aging, and I’m sorry if it offended anyone.”
Kaur pointed out that others have asked similar questions online but didn’t face the same level of harsh backlash she did. She said some of the abuse came from accounts with extreme views.
She clarified, “I just asked about aging and if she smoked. It had nothing to do with cancer.”
Kaur also mentioned that Kate had taken a lot of time off work, which could affect her appearance, though she recognized her own tweet was insensitive.
The online backlash against Kaur has gotten so bad that she had to involve the police, explaining that the threats she received were serious enough for the Metropolitan Police to be contacted.
