Michel Fournier, a 71-year-old man from Oregon, has been arrested and charged with murdering his wife, Susan Lane-Fournier.
Susan, 61, had been missing for a week before her body was found in a wooded area near East Highway 26. The tragic discovery has deeply saddened her family, friends, and community.
Susan was last seen on November 22, 2024. She didn’t show up for work that day, which was unusual for her. Concerned, her colleagues and family reported her missing. A search began immediately.
A few days later, her truck, a white 1992 Ford F-250, was found parked near a trail in Welches, Oregon. This led search teams to focus on the surrounding forest areas.
On November 29, a friend of Susan’s, James Evans, discovered her body while searching near East Miller Road. James said he saw what he thought was trash under a tarp, but when he looked closer, he realized it was Susan. Her body was found just four miles from where her truck had been located.
Authorities quickly turned their attention to Susan’s husband, Michel Fournier. Just weeks before her disappearance, Susan had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Friends of the couple said their relationship had been strained for years, and there were rumors of domestic violence. This raised suspicions about Michel’s involvement in her death.
Michel was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently being held without bail. Police have not yet shared details about the evidence linking him to the crime, but they believe he played a direct role in Susan’s death.
In addition to the heartbreaking discovery of Susan’s body, her two dogs, who went missing with her, are still unaccounted for. Authorities and volunteers continue searching for the pets, hoping to find them safe.
