Furious row erupts as Labour MP accused of ‘very misleading’ tweet: ‘Breaking all kinds of rules!

A fiery debate erupted on GB News as presenters Michelle Dewberry and Andrew Pierce grilled Labour MP Mike Tapp over a controversial social media post.

The Dover politician had shared what appeared to be a Birmingham Mail front page criticizing Nigel Farage’s NHS policies, captioning it: “The media are catching on” about Reform UK’s threat to the health service.

Dewberry immediately called out the MP’s “misleading” presentation. “That was a paid Labour Party advertisement, not independent editorial content,” she asserted. Pierce piled on, accusing Tapp of deliberately blurring the lines between advertising and journalism.

The MP stood his ground, insisting media outlets broadly agreed with his assessment of Farage as “a threat to British values and our NHS.” The exchange grew increasingly heated, with Tapp invoking his military service: “I’ve been to war for this country. That man will do nothing for Britain.”

While Dewberry acknowledged Tapp’s right to criticize Reform, she maintained the ethical breach was clear. “There are rules about distinguishing ads from editorial content,” she stressed. The clash highlights growing tensions over political messaging as Labour seeks to counter Reform’s insurgent challenge, particularly in key seats like Dover which Tapp narrowly won last summer.
