Police Release Heartbreaking CCTV Showing Three-Year-Old Noah Woods’ Last Moments at Suffolk Playground Before Huge Search Ends in Tragedy

Heartbreaking CCTV footage released by police shows the last known movements of three-year-old Noah Woods shortly before he disappeared from a playground in Suffolk. Tragically, after a huge search involving emergency services and around 1,300 members of the public, Noah was later found dead in a nearby pond.

Noah disappeared on Tuesday, September 15, after visiting a playground in Merriam Close, Brantham, with a relative. Police said he became separated from the relative and was reported missing that afternoon.

Suffolk Police later released CCTV footage showing Noah playing at the park. Police confirmed that the last confirmed CCTV sighting of him at the playground was at around 2.37pm.

The footage showed the little boy playing before he disappeared from the area. Police said Noah was reported to have run down an alleyway beside the playground towards a nearby new-build housing estate and Decoy Pond.

At the time the CCTV was released, officers were desperately trying to find him. Police appealed for information and asked people living nearby to check their gardens, sheds, outbuildings, CCTV cameras and doorbell footage.

The search quickly became a huge operation as fears grew for Noah’s safety.

Noah was especially vulnerable because he was non-verbal and had partial hearing loss. Police said he would not respond to people calling his name. He was described as having curly ginger hair and was wearing a white Bluey T-shirt, shorts and black Vans trainers with a white stripe when he disappeared.

Specialist police search teams and dog units were brought into the area. Helicopters were also used, while HM Coastguard, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue and other emergency services joined the operation.

The response from the public was enormous. Suffolk Police said around 1,300 members of the public helped with the search, with some people travelling from outside the area to help find the little boy.

Noah’s father, Rhys Woods, had also made an emotional appeal while his son was still missing. He thanked everyone searching and pleaded with people not to give up hope of finding Noah.

However, the search ended in tragedy on Wednesday, September 16.

Specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police Dive Team searched Decoy Pond, which is close to the area where Noah disappeared. Police later announced that the body of a child had been recovered from the pond.

At first, formal identification had not been completed, although Noah’s family had been informed about the discovery.

Suffolk Police then confirmed on Thursday, September 17, that the body had been formally identified as three-year-old Noah Woods from Brantham.

Police said Noah’s death is not being treated as suspicious. However, officers still have enquiries to complete before submitting a file to the coroner.

The confirmation brought a heartbreaking end to the huge search that had brought together police officers, emergency workers, specialist teams and hundreds of ordinary people desperate to help bring Noah home safely.

Superintendent Tom Pearse expressed his sympathy to Noah’s family and thanked them for their patience during the search. He also praised the extraordinary response from people in Suffolk and others who travelled from further away to help.

Noah’s father later confirmed publicly that the little boy found in Decoy Pond was his son. He described Noah as the sweetest and most innocent little boy and said the family had been left heartbroken by his death.

The CCTV footage released during the search has now become a heartbreaking record of some of Noah’s last known movements before the tragedy.

What originally began as an urgent appeal to find a missing three-year-old ended with the devastating discovery in Decoy Pond. Police have asked that Noah’s family be given privacy as they grieve the loss of their little boy.
