Labour forced to make cringe U-turn after huge Ed Miliband blunder

23views

Ed Miliband’s Great British Energy has faced embarrassment after it was revealed that the company’s logo was a stock image, identical to one used by a small US advertising agency.

The cartoon lightbulb design, which appeared to be available for purchase on the stock image website Dreamstime, has since been redesigned in both color and style to avoid further criticism.

Great British Energy is a publicly owned clean-energy company, a key part of Labour’s campaign pledges. It aims to own and operate renewable energy sites, such as wind farms, to boost environmentally friendly power sources and reduce energy bills. The company’s headquarters will be in Scotland, funded by a windfall tax on oil and gas giants.

The logo mishap has drawn mockery, particularly as the initiative is one of Labour’s flagship policies. The party has promised to create a zero-carbon electricity system by 2030 and cut energy bills by £300 annually. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer recently reaffirmed this commitment, emphasizing the goal of keeping energy bills low over the long term.

The redesign comes as Labour seeks to maintain credibility for its ambitious energy plans, which are central to its vision for a greener, more affordable energy future. However, the logo controversy has highlighted the challenges of launching high-profile initiatives under public scrutiny.
