ITV’s “Loose Women” Interrupted as Linda Robson Breaks Down in Tears Over a Terrible Situation
Loose Women presenter Linda Robson became emotional while talking about her close friend and Birds of a Feather co-star, Pauline Quirke, who has been diagnosed with dementia.
During a live discussion on ITV’s daytime show, Linda struggled to hold back tears as she shared memories of their long friendship. Host Christine Lampard comforted her, saying:
“Clearly, you are there for her, and you have experience too. You will support each other moving forward. It’s difficult, Linda, I know. Thank you for sharing.”
Linda then broke down in tears, supported by her fellow panelists. Christine sent love to Pauline and her family, adding: “We are sending all our love to Pauline and her family. Take a moment.”
After composing herself, Linda reflected on their friendship, which began when they met at primary school at age 10. She shared:
“We did everything together. We traveled the world, visited amazing places, and Birds of a Feather opened so many doors for us. We had incredible times, and she was a fantastic actress.”
She also spoke warmly about Pauline’s family, saying: “She has a beautiful family, a loving husband Steve, who was the love of her life, and two children and granddaughters.”
Linda recalled their fun times together, admitting: “We were a bit naughty. We used our fame to get into so many places.”
Last week, Pauline’s husband, Steve, confirmed that she would retire from all professional and commercial work following her dementia diagnosis in 2021.
On Instagram, Linda expressed her love and support for her best friend, writing:
“This will be the only time I speak on behalf of Pauline. For the past three years, I’ve been in close contact with her husband, Steve, and have spent time with Pauline. It breaks my heart to see her go through such a terrible illness. Out of respect for her family and privacy, I won’t discuss this further.”
Steve also released a statement, saying:
“With a heavy heart, I announce that my wife, Pauline, has decided to step back from all work due to her dementia diagnosis in 2021.”
It was also revealed on Loose Women that Linda had known about Pauline’s condition for some time but had kept it private.
