Shocking Video shows drunk passenger being dragged off Jet2 flight at Manchester Airport

A drunk man was removed from a Jet2 flight to Turkey after drinking half a bottle of whisky, forcing the plane to turn back on the runway.

Lewis Howarth, a 36-year-old father of two, caused trouble on August 29 last year after boarding Flight LS921 at Manchester Airport. He had been drinking heavily in the departure lounge before getting on the plane.

Shortly after boarding, Howarth refused to fasten his seatbelt and insulted a female flight attendant. When police arrived, he became aggressive, swore at them, and even kicked one officer in the face.

At first, he seemed to cooperate, but as officers tried to remove him from the flight, he lashed out and resisted arrest. He had to be restrained and handcuffed, while other passengers filmed the scene and cheered when he was taken off the plane.

The flight, which was supposed to take off at 4:15 PM, was delayed by over an hour because of his behavior.

During his court hearing on January 23, prosecutor Saul Brody said Howarth was “thrashing his head” and continued shouting insults even after being restrained. When told there were children on board, Howarth dismissed the concern, saying, “My kids are there… you are wrong.”

Even when he was arrested for being drunk on a plane, he laughed and continued to swear at officers.

His lawyer, William Staunton, said Howarth had been pressured into drinking by a nervous friend. He added that Howarth was ashamed of his actions and deeply regrets what happened.

The court heard that Howarth had previous convictions for assaulting police and drug driving.

Recorder Geoffrey Wells sentenced him to 14 weeks in jail, calling his behavior “shocking” and “disgraceful.” He criticized Howarth for setting a bad example for his children and said, “There is no excuse for being drunk on a plane.”
