Trump Trashed Welker for ‘Nasty’ Questions — Claims She Was Friendly to Biden, Even Though No Interview Happened (Video)
President-elect Donald Trump had strong words for Kristen Welker, the host of Meet the Press, during his first interview since winning the election. He accused her of asking “pretty nasty” questions and criticized the press for what he saw as unfair treatment.
As the interview was wrapping up, Trump expressed frustration about how he was treated during the campaign compared to his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
He said, “The press was obviously unfair to me. No president has ever been treated as badly as I was by the press. But even with all of that, I still got more votes than any Republican candidate in history, and by a wide margin.”
When Welker asked why he chose to appear on Meet the Press, Trump said, “You’re very hostile.” Welker responded politely, saying, “I hope you thought the interview was fair.
We covered a lot of topics about policy.” Trump replied, “It’s fair only because you let me speak. But your questions were nasty. I’ve watched you interview others, like Biden.”
At this point, Welker corrected him, saying, “I’ve never interviewed President Biden.” Trump quickly clarified, “I mean that metaphorically,” then continued to complain about how he feels the media treats him unfairly.
Trump compared interviews with other politicians, saying, “I’ve seen George Stephanopoulos interview people, and even though he’s a tough interviewer, those interviews are still much softer. Then there’s CNN—they ask questions like, ‘What’s your favorite ice cream?’ It’s completely different. The media treats them so gently.”
He then questioned why the press doesn’t support policies he believes are good for the country. “You’d think the media would like things like strong borders, good education, and a powerful military—things that make our country stronger. But it seems like they’re not interested in that,” he said.
