Princess Kate and Prince William have quietly been getting ready for the day they will eventually become king and queen. Since King Charles revealed he’s dealing with cancer, Prince William has stepped up and started doing more work for the Royal Family. There are reports that both he and Kate are now getting extra training and learning more about what their future roles will involve.
A royal expert named Hilary Fordwich explained that while William and Kate are preparing for their future, they’re not in a rush for any big changes to happen. If King Charles were to step down from being king while he’s getting treatment, it could cause a lot of disruption for the Royal Family. According to Fordwich, William has already taken on more responsibilities, and both he and Kate are quickly adjusting to larger leadership roles. Still, she made it clear—they’re not looking to take over just yet.
Fordwich also said the Royal Family is focused on keeping things calm and stable. They want things to change slowly and smoothly instead of making quick decisions. If King Charles were to step down, it would go against the usual royal traditions, and that’s something the family would rather avoid.
Even though he’s sick, King Charles is still trying to keep working. He hasn’t slowed down much, even after being in the hospital. That’s why many people believe he won’t give up the throne anytime soon.
Fordwich also reminded people that the last time a king stepped down—when King Edward VIII gave up the throne to marry Wallis Simpson—it caused a big crisis in the country. Because of that, and the strong sense of duty passed down from Queen Elizabeth, King Charles is expected to continue his role as long as he possibly can.
Another royal expert, Jonathan Sacerdoti, told Fox News that King Charles is unlikely to take a break unless it becomes absolutely necessary. While he has had to cancel some public events recently, he’s still working hard behind the scenes and seems determined to keep serving the public as much as he can.
