Former President Donald Trump recently gave an interview to NBC News anchor Kristen Welker, who also moderated a previous debate. During the interview, Welker asked Trump about his plans to address illegal immigration and deport individuals living in the U.S. without proper documentation.

Trump discussed his decision to appoint Tom Homan as the new Border Czar. Homan’s role will include strengthening border security and overseeing the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

Trump also reiterated his commitment to ending “birthright citizenship,” which he described as a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment. He argued that this policy allows children born in the U.S. to undocumented parents to automatically gain citizenship. “We’re the only country that has it!” Trump stated.

When asked about family separations during deportations, Tom Homan assured that families could be deported together. In response to CBS reporter Cecilia Vega’s question about avoiding family separations during mass deportations, Homan stated, “Of course there is. Families can be deported together.”
