A couple was removed from a Ryanair flight after repeatedly asking to use the toilet before the plane took off.
Tim and Joana, who are from Belgium, were flying to Malaga in Spain. Shortly after getting on the plane, Tim urgently needed to use the toilet. He said he was “about to wet himself” because he could not hold it any longer.
As soon as they found their seats, Tim went to a flight attendant and asked if he could quickly use the toilet. The flight attendant told him to stay in his seat. He waited and asked again after all the passengers had boarded, but he was still refused. Finally, as the plane was moving toward the runway, he asked one last time.
According to the couple, the head flight attendant then made a sudden decision to take the plane back to the boarding gate. The crew also called the police, accusing Tim of not following airline rules.
Joana explained that her partner was in so much pain that he was squeezing her hand to help him hold it in. Eventually, the flight attendant allowed Tim to use the toilet but told him that the police were already on their way. Joana said the situation was unfair and that the airline staff did not show any kindness or understanding toward Tim’s condition.
When the police arrived, they told Tim and Joana to get off the plane. Because of this, the couple had to cancel their £400 holiday to Spain, which they had been looking forward to.
Joana later shared how embarrassed they felt when police officers escorted them out of the airport while everyone watched. She said, “It was humiliating. Everyone was staring at us. This was supposed to be our Christmas trip, and now it’s ruined over something so small and unfair.”
Ryanair defended its actions, saying that the crew had to call the police because Tim had been “disruptive” during the flight. The airline said it has a “zero-tolerance policy” for passengers who do not follow the rules. They also stated that their main goal is to make sure everyone on board, including the crew, has a safe and peaceful flight without any disturbances.
Although Ryanair’s official rules do not clearly say whether passengers can use the toilet before takeoff, the company’s policy does mention that anyone who ignores crew instructions can be removed from the flight, denied further travel, or even face legal consequences.
