Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about Donald Trump and expressed confidence in his abilities to handle big challenges, including resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Putin described Trump as a “smart and experienced” leader who has been through a lot but is still capable of achieving great things. He said he believed Trump would work towards finding solutions because of his determination and experience.
“President Trump is a clever and capable man,” Putin said. “After all he has been through to reclaim the presidency, I am confident he can come up with a solution, especially in such a difficult situation.”
Putin also criticized the way Trump’s opponents treated him, saying they used methods that were extreme and unethical. He went so far as to compare their actions to those of gangsters, but even worse, because Trump’s family was dragged into the conflict. He said, “What surprised me the most was not just the accusations and legal cases against Trump himself but the attacks on his family, including his children. Even in Russia, criminal gangs follow certain rules—they don’t target women and children. But these people went to such a low level, attacking Trump’s family, which shows how bad the U.S. political system has become.”
Putin also mentioned that Trump faced what he called “uncivilized actions,” including assassination attempts. “It’s shocking how far people went to harm him, even trying to take his life multiple times,” he said. “I think he is still in danger. However, Trump is a careful and intelligent person, and I hope he remains safe.”
Without naming specific individuals or political parties, Putin criticized those responsible for bringing legal cases against Trump. He described the court cases as “humiliating” and suggested they were part of a larger effort to bring Trump down. He added, “They attacked him not just through the courts but by targeting his family. This shows how low politics in the U.S. has fallen.”
Putin made these comments while speaking to reporters in Kazakhstan. During the same discussion, he criticized U.S. President Joe Biden for making the situation between Russia and Ukraine worse. He accused Biden of creating “additional problems” by allowing Ukraine to use American-made long-range missiles to strike targets inside Russia.
According to Putin, these actions show a lack of effort to seek peace and instead escalate tensions. He suggested that Trump, with his intelligence and experience, could take a different approach and potentially ease the conflict.
