Nigel Farage Shocks Voters With Big Announcement—Everyone Is Talking About It

273views

Nigel Farage was furious after Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner confirmed that millions of people will not be able to vote in local elections this year.

Elections in nine council areas have been postponed until May 2026 because these areas are changing from a two-tier system to a unitary authority. This means that instead of having both county councils and district councils, they will now have just one local government body.

At an emergency press conference in Westminster, Farage did not hold back. He said he was blooming angry and called the decision completely outrageous. However, he hinted that for those areas still holding elections in May, there would be a big surprise when Reform UK unveils its local election manifesto in the coming weeks.

Farage also revealed that Reform UK has been secretly gathering information to expose wasteful spending by local councils. He told the Daily Express that his party has submitted thousands of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to councils across the country. These requests will reveal shocking levels of waste and poor financial decisions made by local governments.

He suggested that one major finding will be about who is receiving social housing in the UK. He hinted that a large portion of council housing is being given to people who were not born in Britain.

He explained that Reform UK has been collecting this information for months, sending thousands of FOI requests to councils all over the country. He claimed they are uncovering serious problems, including overpaid officials at local councils, massive waste of taxpayer money, and badly managed contracts for essential services that are not delivering results.

Farage promised that Reform UK will reveal all of this soon and show exactly how they can fix it. He said his party will prove that councils can run more efficiently and give better value for money to taxpayers.

A source from Reform UK confirmed that the full findings will be released at their local election campaign launch in Birmingham on March 28. They described this event as the party’s biggest yet.

Farage initially hoped that Reform UK could win around 175 council seats in May. However, he believes that the government and Conservative-led councils deliberately stopped elections in areas where Reform UK is strongest.

He pointed out that Essex and Norfolk, where Reform UK won seats in last year’s General Election, were among the areas that had their local elections cancelled. He claimed that if the elections had gone ahead, Reform UK could have won full control of Essex council.

Farage also argued that if Reform UK performs well in local councils, it will prove to voters that the party can bring real change at a national level. He suggested that this would help them gain more support for the 2029 general election, where they hope to challenge the Labour and Conservative dominance of British politics.

During his speech, Farage accused the government of behaving like a dictatorship by delaying local elections for about five million voters. He stood at the podium and strongly criticized the decision, saying that he thought only dictators cancel elections, but now it is happening here. He claimed that Labour is terrified of losing support, and Conservative-led councils want to hold onto their positions for as long as possible.

He insisted that there was no good reason to cancel these elections for 5.5 million people other than the political class trying to hold on to power. He described the move as cowardice from politicians who are scared of real competition.

Meanwhile, Reform UK’s petition demanding that the elections go ahead has gained massive support. It has now been signed by 250,000 people, showing that many voters are unhappy with the decision.

With the local elections approaching, Farage has made it clear that he is not backing down. He believes this issue will wake up voters and expose the failures of the current political system. Whether or not the government reverses its decision, Reform UK is preparing for a major political fight in the weeks and months ahead.
