Labour hasn’t got the backbone!’ Lee Anderson blasts ‘nonsense’ efforts to tackle migrant crisis in fiery on-air row

A new video shown by GB News has caused a lot of anger and debate. The video shows French officers giving free life jackets to a group of migrants who were about to cross the English Channel in a small boat. The migrants happily took the life jackets and shouted “thank you” back to the French authorities. A French patrol boat was also seen nearby, watching as it happened. This all took place just ten days ago.

Many people are now asking why the French are helping people who are trying to cross into the UK illegally. Reform UK MP Lee Anderson spoke about it on GB News and said he wasn’t surprised at all. He claimed this has been happening for years, and that both the French and British governments have allowed it to continue. He blamed the previous Conservative government and the current Labour government, saying they have both failed to stop these illegal crossings.

Anderson was very angry. He said if the UK really wanted to stop this, they would send the migrants back the same day they arrived. He said that instead of stopping the problem, the UK is making it worse by giving free hotel rooms, legal help, and other support to people who enter the country illegally. He also mocked the situation, saying, “We might as well just fly them over from France twice a day,” because the current system is not stopping anything. In his view, giving out life jackets only encourages more people to risk the dangerous trip across the water.

But not everyone agreed with him. Paul Richards, who used to work with the Labour Party, had a different opinion. He said that giving someone a life jacket isn’t encouraging illegal migration—it’s just making sure they don’t drown. He said that once people are already on the boat and heading across the Channel, it’s too late to stop them, so the focus should be on keeping them safe. Richards also said that many people don’t realize how dangerous the smugglers are, and that the real goal should be to stop the criminals who organize these dangerous trips in the first place.

Anderson wasn’t convinced. He argued that both the Labour and Conservative governments talk a lot about “smashing the gangs” but don’t take strong enough action. He said the real problem is that the UK is making it easy for people to come and stay. He believes that tough action is needed and that people should be sent back straight away. He said if that causes a problem with France, so be it.

The UK Home Office responded by saying that they are working hard to stop illegal crossings and bring down the gangs who run them. A spokesperson said that these smugglers don’t care if people live or die as long as they get paid, and that the UK is doing everything possible to stop these criminals at every step of the journey.

This video has added more fuel to the ongoing argument about how the UK should handle illegal immigration and whether current plans are really working. Some people want tougher action, while others believe safety and human rights should come first. The debate continues, with strong feelings on both sides.
