Keir Starmer Must Fire Ed Miliband – Net Zero is Destroying the UK, and Here’s Why! – Kelvin MacKenzie
Opinion: Ed Miliband’s Push for Net Zero is Out of Control, Says Former Sun Editor Kelvin MacKenzie
I live just 13 miles from Heathrow Airport, so you might think I’d be against building a third runway with all the extra planes flying overhead. But actually, I support it. There’s a bigger reason—this project could eventually force Ed Miliband out of the government.
When Rachel Reeves announced the Heathrow expansion, most Cabinet members were there, but Miliband was missing. His team said he had “meetings” but didn’t say what they were. It was embarrassing for him, but he made it clear he wouldn’t be resigning. That’s unfortunate.
He might not be leaving just yet, but as people realize that we still need oil more than his extreme environmental ideas, he’ll either quit or be fired. I hope it’s the latter.
Miliband represents the Left’s dislike of free markets. He supports wealth taxes, leads the net zero movement, wants fewer people to fly, dislikes cars, and opposes anything that gives people more freedom and enjoyment.
Why did Starmer give him the job in the first place?
He must have known that at some point, Miliband’s strict environmental policies would clash with a struggling economy that needs cheaper energy to survive. The UK already has some of the most expensive energy in the world. Miliband and his allies would rather let people suffer than allow drilling for North Sea oil.
That time has come.
In an article by Allister Heath, he points out that the Prime Minister must choose between an anxious Chancellor and Miliband. There’s no question—Miliband should never have been given this important role. It was a big mistake.
We need more runways to handle the many people eager to leave the UK. I’m one of them.
Miliband’s Net Zero Policies Are Hurting the Economy
The idea of banning new petrol cars in just five years is unrealistic. The UK once had a strong car industry, but now manufacturers are confused about whether to produce hybrids, electric, or petrol cars. This uncertainty has caused a 70% drop in car production year after year.
That’s terrible.
There are other signs that Miliband’s extreme environmental policies are damaging the economy. In September last year, manufacturing output fell 8% compared to 2021. Eight out of 13 industrial sectors continued to shrink. Since 2020, energy production has plummeted by 28.5%.
How can an industrial nation survive like this? Starmer needs to stop thinking like a lawyer and start acting like a leader by firing Miliband.
Doing so would send a strong message to the country and the world that the UK is open for business again. It would also infuriate the Left, which would be an added bonus.
Blocking North Sea Oilfields is a Big Mistake
The courts recently blocked two North Sea oil projects because emissions weren’t considered. That decision is ridiculous. The UK will still need oil, so instead of producing it ourselves, we’ll just import it from other countries—where the same amount of pollution will be created anyway.
How much more nonsense can we take? Trump had a simple message: “Drill, baby, drill.”
For Starmer, I’d say: “Sack, baby, sack.”
