President Donald Trump is once again the centre of attention as new footage has left viewers gobsmacked, showing the US leader seemingly nodding off at a significant gathering.
The viral TikTok video captures what appears to be a drowsy President, with First Lady Melania Trump nudging him awake during a National Prayer Service. The clip, which has sparked a flurry of reactions online, shows Donald Trump with his eyes shut, seemingly snoozing to the sound of a musical number.
The caption by the content creator reads: “Melania makes sure Trump doesn’t turn prayer service into nap time”. Social media users are shocked, as some seem to view his behaviour as “disrespectful” at such a pivotal event.
Allegations that he “struggled to stay awake” have surfaced, suggesting Melania’s discreet intervention was necessary. One person quipped: “Time to call him sleepy Don.”
Another thought there was a reason for his behaviour though, adding: “Considering the mess he’s been cleaning up, I say my boy is very tired.”
This isn’t the first instance of Trump being caught on camera in a sleepy state. Last year, he appeared to drift off at a campaign rally in Michigan’s Oakland County.
At the time of his Presidential run, fatigue was cited in October as the reason for Trump’s withdrawal from various interviews, with an adviser attributing his absence to an “exhausted state”. During this period, he seemed to suffer from bouts of drowsiness, raising concerns over his campaign commitments.
Back then, Politico reported that an insider informed the show’s producers that Trump was “exhausted and refusing [some] interviews but that could change”.
Last week, accusations of a “huge conflict of interest” emerged against the President following a conspicuous display of support for his adviser, Elon Musk. In a striking move, the White House South Lawn was temporarily transformed into a Tesla exhibition on Tuesday, March 11.
Elon Musk, the car titan and CEO billionaire, garnered the spotlight at the White House event, which featured a selection of his electric vehicles prominently positioned on presidential grounds. The President showcased his support for Tesla conspicuously, just hours after hinting on Truth Social about his intent to acquire a Tesla, and subsequently promoting the brand via TikTok videos.
He was captured on film closely scrutinising the elegant cars, sparking public outcry. The President expressed: “I’m going to buy, and I’m going to buy because number one, it’s a great product, as good as it gets.
“And number two, because this man has devoted his energy and his life to doing this, so I think he’s being treated very unfairly by a very small group of people.”
