Donald Trump has been harshly criticized again this time by a well-known American celebrity. Comedian Rosie O’Donnell has spoken out publicly after leaving the United States and moving to Dublin, Ireland.
She explained during a live interview on CNN that she left the country when Trump was elected for a second term, and she’s never looked back.
Talking to CNN hosts Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown in a video call from her home in Dublin, Rosie said she has no regrets about the move. She explained that after reading Project 2025 a political plan linked to Trump she realized it was time to go. She said she and her non-binary child felt it wasn’t safe to stay if Trump returned to power.
Though she didn’t make a big public announcement like some other celebrities, she quietly made the decision with her family and therapist. As soon as Trump won the election, they acted fast and left the U.S. before his inauguration.
Wolf Blitzer pointed out that Rosie had long been critical of Trump and even targeted by him. He asked how it felt watching everything happen from outside the country. Rosie replied that it’s been incredibly painful to watch.
She said that seeing Trump ignore the U.S. Constitution and tear down the country’s values from afar has been heartbreaking. She mentioned that if Trump followed through with the ideas from Project 2025, it would be serious trouble and according to her, it’s even worse than expected.
Rosie now lives in Ireland with her 12-year-old child, Clay. She said Clay is thriving and doing really well in their new home, and she’s extremely proud of how strong and adaptable they’ve been.
