Prince Andrew’s ‘New Role’ Revealed After Royal Family Scandal – You Won’t Believe His Focus Now!
Prince Andrew, who lives in Windsor with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, has been keeping a low profile in recent months after facing another controversy.
The Duke of York, who stopped being a senior royal in 2019, was in the news again just before Christmas when it was revealed that he was once friends with Chinese businessman Yang Tengbo, who has been suspected of being a spy.
Although Tengbo denied being a spy, and Andrew claimed he cut ties with him as soon as suspicions arose, their friendship raised eyebrows. As a result, Andrew, 64, skipped last year’s Royal Family Christmas gathering at Sandringham.
Since then, he has rarely been seen outside his home, Royal Lodge, in Windsor, withdrawing from royal life even more.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror that she believes Andrew is now focused on being a devoted grandfather, especially after his daughter, Princess Beatrice, welcomed her second child, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, last week.
Jennie said: “I think family has become even more important to Prince Andrew, and one of his biggest roles now is being a loving grandad. I’m sure Fergie is just as in love with little Athena as her parents are. I also think it’s a beautiful name, and it’s nice to see the Royal Family choosing less traditional names.”
While Andrew has had a difficult few months, this isn’t the first time he has faced public criticism.
In 2019, he was forced to step back from royal duties because of his past friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Later, he was accused of sexually assaulting Virginia Giuffre, though he denied all allegations.
In 2022, amid a US court case related to these accusations, Andrew was stripped of his military titles and royal patronages. The case was eventually settled out of court.
