Illegal immigrants worked at school for 20 years with fake ID, You Won’t Believe How He Was Exposed
Mounir Lameche, 48, worked as a school caretaker using a fake name and an Italian passport to pass a background check (DBS). He was arrested after applying for the DBS under the name “Adel Boughamouz,” which the court confirmed was a false identity.
Prosecutors explained that Lameche secured a job at Beechwood School in Slough using fake documents. Maria Culling, representing the prosecution, said, “He wouldn’t have gotten the job without those false documents.”
When police searched Lameche’s home on Sussex Place in Slough, they found several fake IDs, including two French passports, an Irish passport, and a French national ID, all under the name Boughamouz. They also found another illegal immigrant, Amine Lameche, 53, who had a fake Belgian driver’s license under the name Amine Ziani.
Lara Simak, defending the two men, argued they might qualify to stay in the UK since they had been living there illegally for over 20 years after arriving from Algeria. She said they had both been working and paying taxes under false identities for those two decades.
Simak noted that the Home Office had already denied Mounir Lameche’s application to remain in the UK, stating he couldn’t prove he had been continuously resident for 20 years. He was appealing the decision. Amine Lameche also had a pending application.
Simak argued that sending the men to prison would seriously harm their chances of being allowed to stay. She said Mounir admitted using fake documents to keep his job as a school caretaker, but added, “This was not for personal gain beyond basic survival. He worked to live, not to commit crimes.”
She also emphasized that Mounir had no criminal record other than issues related to his immigration status and posed no danger to others.
The court could not sentence Mounir because there was a disagreement about whether he was an overstayer, which would require a prison sentence. The case was postponed to February 3 for further checks.
