Labour Is a Disaster for the UK, Says Elon Musk” | Richard Tice Talks Reform with Julia Hartley-Brewer on Talk Tv
Reform UK Deputy Leader Richard Tice joined Julia Hartley-Brewer on TalkTV to discuss a major development for the party: the possibility of support from the world’s richest man, Elon Musk. The Tesla and X (formerly Twitter) owner, known for his bold political stances, is reportedly exploring ways to back Reform UK as it gains traction in British politics.
Tice was quick to clarify rumors about a massive $100 million donation, calling the figure “plucked out of thin air” by the Sunday Times. However, he confirmed that Musk had met with Reform leader Nigel Farage and new party treasurer Nick Candy, who recently pledged a seven-figure sum to the party.
“Elon Musk loves the UK,” Tice said. “He recognizes that Labour is a catastrophe for this country, and he wants to see Britain thrive. Reform UK is all about growth, reform, and making Britain stronger—and that’s a message he supports.”
Musk’s potential involvement with Reform UK mirrors his support for Donald Trump during the U.S. presidential campaigns. His platforms, like X, played a critical role in energizing voters and pushing political debates to the forefront.
Tice highlighted a similar opportunity in the UK, saying:
“Musk and Nigel talked about using tech to register more voters, especially younger people. Reform UK is inspiring a new generation who are tired of broken promises and want real change.”
Musk’s business interests in the UK, including Tesla, Starlink, and X, position him as a key figure in the country’s economic future. His potential backing could turbocharge Reform UK’s campaigns, particularly on issues like immigration, Net Zero policies, and the economy.
Reform UK has been gaining support, with its membership doubling in the last five months. The party is polling in the 20s, a significant shift in British politics. Tice believes this signals a turning point:
“Democracy is the winner here. We’re offering conviction, passion, and real solutions. Young people are excited about what we stand for, and more and more are asking how to get involved.”
Tice also addressed concerns that Reform could split the Conservative vote, potentially benefiting Labour. He dismissed these fears, saying Reform is now a serious contender and could soon surpass the Tories in polls.
Hartley-Brewer and Tice discussed Labour’s shortcomings under Keir Starmer, from economic stagnation to rising inflation and chaotic handling of policies like Net Zero. Tice didn’t mince words:
“Under Labour, growth is down, inflation is up, and the debt is spiraling. They’ve failed to deliver, and people are fed up.”
On immigration, Tice argued that Labour’s approach has failed to tackle both legal and illegal migration effectively, adding:
“People want a fair system that works. Reform is the only party offering real solutions on this issue.”
Tice also linked rising bills and economic struggles to Net Zero policies, criticizing Labour’s green agenda:
“Net Zero is driving up costs for everyone. We say, adapt to climate change, don’t bankrupt the country trying to stop it. People are waking up to this reality, and they’re turning to us for answers.”
As Reform UK prepares to flesh out its policies, Tice expressed confidence in the party’s future:
“We’re building momentum, and serious business leaders like Nick Candy are backing us. If Musk gets involved, it’ll only strengthen our movement. Reform is the party of the future.”
Hartley-Brewer wrapped up the segment with a look ahead, asking Tice about his hopes for 2025. Tice responded confidently:
“My hope is that Reform continues to grow. We’re aiming for over 30% in the polls. As for fears—I have none. We’re just getting started.”
