Sean Goe, a 27-year-old man from Ohio, has been sentenced to 29 years to life in prison for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Raychel Sheridan, who was 24 years old.

The court found Goe guilty of multiple charges, including murder, assault, abusing a corpse, and tampering with evidence. The crime was both shocking and deeply disturbing, according to the details shared in court.

The incident came to light in July when a park worker discovered Raychel’s body wrapped in plastic inside a trash can at an abandoned park called Mother Goose Land. The day before, Raychel’s mother had reported her missing after failing to hear from her daughter.

She requested a welfare check at the apartment Raychel shared with Goe. When deputies arrived, they found the apartment door open, but no one was inside. They noticed signs of something suspicious and called for a search warrant.

While waiting for the warrant, officers saw Goe driving Raychel’s Jeep. When they tried to stop him, he ran into a nearby wooded area. He was arrested the following morning, initially for unrelated crimes, including burglary and domestic violence involving Raychel.

Evidence collected during the investigation confirmed that Raychel was murdered inside the apartment. Prosecutors explained that Goe struck her at least 10 times on the head with the blunt side of a hammer. The injuries were so severe that Raychel could not be recognized in photos. After the killing, Goe wrapped her body in a sheet and dumped it in the park, treating her, as the judge described, “like garbage.”

During his sentencing, Stark County Judge Frank Forchione described the murder as the most brutal he had ever encountered. He said Goe lacked any decency or moral values. The judge added, “You sold your soul to the devil” and imposed the maximum sentence for all charges.

In court, Raychel’s mother, Lisa Sheridan, expressed the family’s pain, saying, “You have murdered our baby girl!”

Prosecutors shared that the murder weapon, the hammer, was found in the apartment, and Raychel’s blood was also present. Detectives determined that the crime was premeditated and intentional.

Goe was indicted on several charges in August, including two counts of murder, assault, abusing a corpse, tampering with evidence, and theft. He pleaded not guilty but was convicted after the evidence was presented in court.

Sean Goe will serve at least 29 years before being eligible for parole. The brutal nature of the crime and the clear evidence left no doubt about his guilt, leading to the harsh sentence.
