In December 2020, a 13-month-old girl named Hannah Nicole Driver died from stab wounds. Her mother, Chloe Alexis Driver, was later arrested by police, who believe Chloe was involved in a “polygamist cult lifestyle.” Chloe, who was 20 years old at the time, is now on trial in Georgia for Hannah’s death.
Authorities reported that they found Hannah in a bedroom with stab wounds on December 8, 2020, in Cherokee County, Georgia. She was taken to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, she didn’t survive. Nearly four years later, Chloe faces murder charges, and her trial is being shown live on Court TV.
During the trial, prosecutors said that Chloe was involved with a man who had multiple wives, calling it a “polygamist lifestyle.” They believe Chloe killed her daughter to be with him. The man, who is also Hannah’s father, has not been charged in connection with the girl’s death.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Katie Gropper explained that Chloe was part of an unusual lifestyle where the man she was with had two other wives. The group, described as a “polygamist cult,” had what Gropper called “extreme beliefs” and unusual practices, like “drinking their own urine.” Gropper claimed that Chloe wanted to be with this man, even if it meant harming her child, Hannah.
In court, they read a letter Chloe allegedly wrote, where she admitted to the crime. The letter stated, “He didn’t do it. I did it. I was losing my mind and didn’t want to be with his friends but kept coming back for him. I only wanted my baby and husband, but he refused.”
Authorities said Chloe was also found with serious injuries that day and was later charged with several crimes, including murder and cruelty to children. She was arrested after she recovered in the hospital.
Prosecutors say that Chloe locked herself and her daughter in a room and attacked Hannah, then injured herself. Hannah’s father discovered the scene and was devastated, allegedly crying out, “What did you do?”
During the trial, the court learned disturbing details about Hannah’s condition when she arrived at the hospital. Dr. Carli Blomquist, the emergency doctor who treated Hannah, shared that Hannah had lost a significant amount of blood.
Chloe faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children. She has entered a plea of not guilty, claiming insanity as her defense.
