Local people were heartbroken when they heard about the death of a much-loved woman. “She was a very kind person,” Tyson Henry, one of Gilbert’s neighbors, told the press.

A Texas mother was caught on a Ring doorbell camera as she was checking on a strange noise outside, where she was tragically killed. The camera caught a glimpse of one of the criminals.

In a shocking moment, a Texas woman named Ebonie Gilbert, 39, was shot on her doorstep after she confronted two men stealing her car. This happened around 8 pm last Thursday. Gilbert bravely approached the thieves, but they shot her at close range as they tried to escape.

The Ring camera captured an image of one of the men, but he was wearing a black mask and a white hoodie, hiding most of his face. Police have called the killing a “brutal, cold-blooded murder.”

Reports say that Gilbert’s mother found her body around 3 pm the next day and called the police and emergency services. Shell casings were found at the scene.

Gilbert was well-loved by her neighbors. Tyson Henry shared, “She was a very good person. Last Christmas, she helped my kids, and whenever we needed something, she tried to help.

His wife also heard the gunshots and, in fear, got their kids on the floor when she realized the shooting happened right next door.

A neighbor, Shana Trent, said, “It’s terrifying because it happened so close to home. We often hear gunshots, but knowing someone was killed for something so senseless is heartbreaking.”

Following the shooting, police arrested 21-year-old DCorey Bershard Shillow. His family turned him in to the authorities on Sunday. As he was arrested, Shillow said, “Rest in peace, Miss Ebonie. I’m sorry for your loss,” but denied killing her and said he wasn’t a “monster.”
