Watch As Labour MP ERUPTS in Furious Tantrum After ENTIRE House of Commons Bursts Into Laughter (Video)

The House of Commons turned chaotic after Labour MP Zarah Sultana got into a tense argument with other MPs and the Deputy Speaker over her remarks about an Israeli football team and the war in Gaza. What started as a question quickly became one of the most talked-about moments in Parliament this week, with many MPs laughing as Sultana grew visibly upset and accused them of being disrespectful.
It began when Sultana, who represents Birmingham, made a strong statement linking the football club Maccabi Tel Aviv to the Israeli government. She said the club’s fanbase could not be separated from Israel’s military actions, claiming that “many of these fans are active or former soldiers who have taken part in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.” Her words shocked the chamber. Some MPs laughed, while others loudly objected.
One MP quickly fired back, saying, “She’s doing the people of Birmingham no favors with that sort of rhetoric.” He argued that Sultana was unfairly blaming British citizens who simply support an Israeli football team for the violence happening in the Middle East. Another MP accused her of mixing up Jewish identity with Israeli nationality, calling that kind of comparison “anti-Semitism in itself.”
Deputy Speaker Eleanor Laing tried to calm the situation, but the tension kept rising as Sultana raised her voice and looked frustrated by the reaction of other MPs. She demanded to be heard and accused the chamber of ignoring the suffering in Gaza. The laughter and interruptions, however, only made her more emotional.
Taking a point of order, Sultana spoke again to defend herself. “In my question to the Secretary of State, I clearly stated that Maccabi Tel Aviv football team is inextricably linked to the Israeli state, which is an apartheid state,” she said firmly. “The boycott of apartheid regimes, such as apartheid South Africa, is a legitimate political stance. To label such a position as anti-Semitic, as the Secretary of State did, is entirely false and dangerous.”
She went on to accuse the Secretary of State of using language “laced with Islamophobia” and said she should not have to repeat herself. “I do not have to say this more than once,” she added, her tone sharp and emotional.
The Deputy Speaker eventually ended the heated exchange, saying, “This debate has concluded. I will give the ministers a few moments to swap over as we move on to the education statements.” The tension in the room remained as Sultana sat down, visibly frustrated.
Clips of the moment quickly spread on social media, showing the exchange between Sultana, her critics, and the Deputy Speaker. Supporters of Sultana said she showed courage for standing up against what they see as hypocrisy and silence over Gaza. They argued she was being unfairly attacked for speaking the truth about Israel’s actions.
But others strongly disagreed. They accused her of spreading division and using language that could fuel hatred toward Jewish people in the UK. One viewer commented that her anger and tone made it hard for others to take her seriously, while another said MPs laughing during such a serious topic showed a lack of empathy.
The incident has now become part of a larger national debate about how far politicians can go when criticizing Israel without crossing into anti-Semitism. Sultana has faced similar controversies in the past for her outspoken views on Israel and British foreign policy. Some see her as a brave voice for justice in Gaza, while others believe her comments make community relations in the UK worse.
Either way, the moment in Parliament showed just how emotional and divided the issue remains. What was supposed to be a routine debate turned into a dramatic clash about free speech, race, and political responsibility with Zarah Sultana once again at the center of it all.
