Trump Slams Biden for Changing Death Sentences of 37 “Worst Criminals in the Nation”

President-elect Donald Trump strongly criticized President Joe Biden for reducing the sentences of 37 inmates who were on federal death row.

Trump described these inmates as “the worst killers in our country” and said people would be shocked when they learned about the horrible crimes these individuals had committed.

He shared his frustration on Truth Social, saying, “It makes no sense. Families and loved ones of the victims are devastated and can’t believe this is happening.”

On Christmas Eve, Biden announced that the death sentences of 37 out of 40 federal death row inmates would be changed to life in prison without parole. Biden explained his decision, saying, “I condemn these murderers and deeply grieve for the victims and their families.

But based on my conscience and my many years of experience as a public defender, Senate Judiciary Chairman, Vice President, and now President, I believe we must end the use of the federal death penalty. I cannot allow future leaders to restart executions that I stopped.”

One of the inmates whose sentence was changed is Jorge Avila-Torrez. He was convicted of horrifying crimes, including sexually assaulting and killing two young girls, eight-year-old Laura Hobbs and nine-year-old Krystal Tobias.

Later, he also murdered a 20-year-old naval officer named Amanda Snell. Trump specifically mentioned Avila-Torrez in his criticism, questioning how Biden could offer mercy to someone who committed such terrible acts.

Trump said Biden’s actions were unfair to the victims’ families, who are now forced to relive their pain and feel that justice has not been served. He added, “This decision doesn’t make any sense, and it’s further hurting the families and friends of the victims.”

Biden’s decision to commute these death sentences follows another controversial move  his pardon of his son, Hunter Biden.

Hunter had been convicted on tax and gun charges, and despite promising not to pardon him, Biden went ahead with the decision. These actions have sparked a lot of debate and criticism, especially from Trump and others who believe Biden is being too lenient.
