Suella Braverman Says The UK Could Become ‘The First Islamist Nation With Nuclear Weapons’

Suella Braverman has warned that the UK could become “the first Islamist country with nuclear weapons.”

The former home secretary said Britain might “fall under Muslim fundamentalist rule” and end up like Iran.

She made these controversial remarks in a speech at the right-wing Heritage Foundation think-tank in Washington.

Braverman said: “Vice-president JD Vance mentioned at the National Conservatism conference—where I also spoke this summer—that the UK could become the first Islamist nation with nuclear weapons. I don’t think he was joking.

“Is it impossible that in 20 years, the UK, not China or Russia, could be the biggest threat to the USA?

“If the UK falls under Muslim fundamentalist control, our legal system is replaced with Sharia Law, and our nuclear weapons end up in the hands of a government similar to Iran’s today, what would that mean?

“Even if this sounds unrealistic, which I do not believe, shouldn’t we at least have the courage to ask these questions?”

Braverman also claimed that Keir Starmer and Donald Trump have completely different views—despite Trump recently praising Starmer.

Over the weekend, Trump told reporters that he thought Starmer “is a very good person” and “has done a very good job so far,” adding: “I like him a lot.”

The two leaders also had a friendly 45-minute phone call on Sunday, though they avoided discussing their disagreements.

Despite this, Braverman argued that the UK’s relationship with the US is now “in ruins.”

She said: “Under Keir Starmer, the UK is now more focused on extreme net-zero policies, prioritizing a distorted idea of human rights, and following international institutions rather than defending its national security and long-term allies.”
