Struggling for a GP appointment? Our woke new Health Minister has the answer

149views

The Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has decided to make Ashley Dalton the new Health Minister after firing Andrew Gwynne because of some nasty messages he sent on WhatsApp. But honestly, it feels like swapping one problem for another. Is Ashley Dalton really the right person for the job? Let’s take a closer look at her background.

Ashley Dalton is known for supporting gender-neutral bathrooms. Back in 2016, she even said that if someone identifies as a llama, people should take them seriously and treat them with respect. Now, I don’t know about you, but I can’t quite picture a llama using a gender-neutral bathroom. Llamas usually do their business outdoors, so it seems a bit unnecessary, doesn’t it?

The bigger question is whether Ashley Dalton can handle the huge challenges facing the NHS. Right now, the health service is in complete disarray. It’s struggling to provide even basic care, and waiting lists are through the roof. What the NHS needs is someone who can take urgent action to fix these problems. But Dalton has already said she’s against using private healthcare to help reduce NHS waiting times, which is one of the main ideas being proposed to improve things. Ignoring this solution doesn’t make much sense, especially when the NHS is in such a critical state.

Maybe it’s time to stop playing the blame game and just admit the truth: healthcare in this country is in a terrible place. The NHS is failing to provide consistent, decent care, and pretending otherwise isn’t helping anyone. Some people still believe the NHS is world-class and a model of efficiency, but that’s just not true anymore. Believing that is like believing in fairy tales—it’s not based on reality.

And let’s be honest, appointing someone who thinks people can identify as llamas doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. How can we trust that things will get better when the person in charge has such questionable ideas? It’s hard to feel hopeful about the future of the NHS when the leadership seems so out of touch.

The Labour Party, meanwhile, seems more interested in getting tickets to Taylor Swift concerts and Premier League football games than actually helping ordinary people. It’s frustrating to see them focus on things like that when so many people can’t even get an appointment with their GP. It feels like they’ve lost sight of what really matters.

At this point, maybe we should all just join a herd of llamas and hope for the best. If we get sick, maybe the RSPCA will call a vet for us. It sounds ridiculous, but honestly, the whole situation feels like a complete mess. It’s hard to see how things will improve anytime soon.

Christopher Smithers, who wrote this, is a regular person who reads the Daily Express and works as an international business consultant. He’s just calling things as he sees them, without sugarcoating anything. And right now, what he sees is a health service that’s broken and leaders who don’t seem up to the task of fixing it.
