Russia has sent a serious warning to the UK, France, and Germany, saying their soldiers would be attacked if they were sent to Ukraine as peacekeepers.
Dmitry Rogozin, a Russian politician and former head of the Russian Space Agency, mocked UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, saying he was trying to act like a “cool British Prime Minister” by suggesting sending troops. Rogozin said it had been a long time since British officers were killed in Crimea and warned that Russia was ready for them again.
He also mocked French President Emmanuel Macron, saying that even if he gathered a 50,000-strong army, they would still be defeated by Russian forces. He claimed that NATO and Europe would no longer exist if they sent troops to Ukraine.
Moscow is strongly against Starmer and Macron’s idea of putting soldiers on the ground in Ukraine. Rogozin made fun of British soldiers, saying Scottish troops should wear tartan skirts so Russian drones could easily spot them. He also joked that Irish soldiers’ blue plumes would make them easy targets for snipers and that English soldiers’ fur hats would serve as food for mice in the trenches.
A Russian army general, Major-General Apti Alaudinov, rejected claims that Vladimir Putin wants peace. He said Russia is ready to call up two million soldiers if NATO troops enter Ukraine. He warned that Russia would do whatever it takes to win, even if its people had to eat grass and drink from puddles.
He also said Russia has never lost a war on the battlefield and never will. He claimed that Russia is loved and protected by God.
These threats come as tensions between Russia and the West continue to grow. Some Western leaders are discussing ways to support Ukraine against further Russian attacks, but Moscow has made it clear that sending troops could lead to a bigger war.
