Royal Scandal Erupts: Prince William Slammed as ‘Useless’ While Protesters Flood London Demanding King Be Removed

Protests are going on right now in Trafalgar Square, London, where a group called Republic is standing up against the Royal Family. They believe that the UK should no longer have a king or queen chosen by birth, but instead should have a leader that the people vote for—someone who earns the role through a fair election. The group is saying it’s time for real democracy and that the monarchy is outdated.
The head of the group, Graham Smith, appeared on GB News and got into a serious argument with royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. The two had very different opinions. Graham Smith strongly criticized Prince William, calling him “lazy.” He claimed that Prince William, who is supposed to be the future king, barely works and doesn’t really help the country in any meaningful way. Smith said that in the past month, William only worked about four days—and by work, he meant showing up at events, smiling, and waving at people, most of which happened close to his home.
Smith also argued that the Royal Family doesn’t really help charities like people think. He said there was a very detailed, independent study that showed the Royal Family’s impact on charity work is close to nothing. He believes that people give them too much credit, and in reality, their presence doesn’t make much of a difference to those in need.
On top of that, Smith pointed out how expensive the Royal Family is. He said they cost British taxpayers about £510 million every year. This includes not just the well-known royals, but also many extended family members that most people haven’t even heard of. He questioned why the public should have to pay so much money for a family that, in his opinion, doesn’t do much in return.
Richard Fitzwilliams, who supports the monarchy, disagreed with everything Smith said. He defended the Royal Family, especially King Charles, saying that Charles has worked hard for many years to bring attention to important issues like climate change. Fitzwilliams said the king was one of the first major public figures to speak up about protecting the environment on a global level.
Smith didn’t accept that argument. He called Charles a hypocrite, saying that the Royal Family lives in luxury and contributes more to pollution than they help prevent. According to Smith, rich people like the royals talk about saving the environment while continuing to live in ways that harm it.
Fitzwilliams said that you can’t just measure the value of the Royal Family with numbers. He said their role goes beyond statistics and that they help make Britain look good in the eyes of the world. Smith responded by saying Fitzwilliams had no real proof for his claims.
All this heated debate is happening while people gather in the streets to protest. Even though some people want to get rid of the monarchy, a recent survey showed that most people in Britain—about 55%—still support it. This shows that the country is divided. Some people feel proud of the tradition and history the monarchy represents, while others feel it’s time to move on and let the people choose their own leaders through voting. The argument continues, both on the streets and on TV.
