REVEALED: The staggering amount kier Starmer is sending to Somalia as millions of pensioners lose winter fuel payment

The UK government recently signed a contract that could send an extra £25 million to Somalia. Over the next five years, British taxpayers will pay at least £25 million to support a project called “Green Urban Growth” in Somalia.

This project aims to help Somali cities become more environmentally friendly and better prepared for challenges like climate change and rapid population growth. The money will also go toward helping poor people and those who have been forced to leave their homes due to conflict or disasters.

At the same time, the UK government is making big cuts to public services at home. Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor, says these cuts are necessary to fix a £22 billion budget problem left by the previous government. One of the cuts includes stopping winter fuel payments for over 10 million pensioners this winter. This decision has upset many older people, especially during the cold months when heating costs are high. In Essex, a 74-year-old man named Dave Walker said, “It’s terrible. People are freezing in their own homes. I voted for Labour in the last election, but now I regret it. The whole country is in a mess.”

The contract for the Somalia project was given to a company called DT Global International Development UK LTD. It will run until July 2030 and could be extended for another two years. The total amount of money sent to Somalia could even double to £50 million if other donors join in to support the project. The government says the program will help Somalia’s cities grow in a way that is fair and sustainable, while also reducing poverty and helping people affected by climate change.

However, many people in the UK are angry about this decision. They feel it’s unfair to send millions of pounds abroad when people at home are struggling. On social media, people have criticized the government, calling it a waste of money. One person asked, “How can we afford this when our elderly can’t even heat their homes and our roads are full of potholes?”

Some social media users are also calling for the UK to create its own version of DOGE, which stands for Department of Government Efficiency. This idea comes from the US, where Donald Trump and Elon Musk tried to cut wasteful spending in government. One person tweeted, “We need our own DOGE, and we need it fast.”

In summary, while the UK government is sending millions of pounds to Somalia for a green development project, many people at home are facing tough times due to cuts in public services. This has led to frustration and criticism, with some calling for better management of public money.
