Reform UK Declares War on Ilegal Migrant Hotels  Vows Court Battles and Tent Camps Instead

Reform UK says it might take the UK government to court to stop migrants from being housed in areas where the party has taken control of local councils.

The party’s chairman, Zia Yusuf, made it clear that Reform will fight hard to stop asylum seekers from being settled in these places. He said they’ll use all legal tools available, including taking the government to court, to keep their promises to voters.

At the moment, it’s the Home Office that decides where adult asylum seekers live, usually placing them in hotels. Local councils can object, but they don’t have much power to change the decision.

In the recent local elections, Reform UK made major gains, winning more than 600 seats and taking over 10 councils. When asked how the party plans to stop asylum seekers being housed in hotels, Yusuf admitted it won’t be easy. He said the national government holds more power than local councils, but promised that Reform councillors would do everything they can — including going to court, blocking planning permissions, and restricting budget decisions — to stop it from happening.

Yusuf also mentioned that lawyers are looking into whether turning hotels into migrant housing violates any regulations, suggesting that legal loopholes may be used to challenge the practice.

He was also asked about whether Reform UK would support housing migrants in tents instead of hotels  an idea previously suggested by their newly elected Greater Lincolnshire mayor, Dame Andrea Jenkyns.

Yusuf replied that France already does this, and that his party plans to release a full plan soon to deport anyone in the country illegally.

Jenkyns repeated her belief that tents should be used instead of renting hotels for migrants. She argued that putting people in hotels makes the UK too attractive for illegal immigration, calling it a “soft-touch” approach. She said using taxpayers’ money on hotel stays is not right and that tents would be a better alternative.

Reform UK’s tough stance on immigration has sparked debate, especially as their success in the elections has shaken both Labour and the Conservatives. The party’s leaders say they want strict immigration enforcement and will take strong actions if they gain more power.
