Putin’s army reeling after Ukraine ‘kills senior commander’ and wipes out major ammo depot

A huge explosion broke out at a Russian ammunition warehouse, causing panic and flames that could be seen from far away. This happened just as Vladimir Putin’s army faced another serious loss. Ukrainian forces reportedly killed another top Russian commander in a targeted strike, continuing their efforts to weaken and confuse Russian troops by hitting their key command centers.

In the past few weeks, Ukraine has been ramping up its attacks. They destroyed the headquarters of Russia’s 6th Motorised Rifle Division in Bakhmut. Soon after that, they struck again and killed the leader of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division, Colonel Abdulaziz Shikhabidov. He had only recently been chosen by Putin himself to command that division, known as the Pskov Division.

Now, Ukraine has reportedly killed another high-ranking officer. Missiles hit the base of the 40th Separate Guards Marine Brigade in Rylsk, located in Russia’s Kursk region. After the explosion, people were seen digging through the debris, hoping to find anyone still alive. Among those who died was Deputy Commander Alexander Danilov. He had fought in the early 2022 invasion of Ukraine and had also served in Syria for several years.

This particular brigade has suffered massive losses during the war. In past battles at Vugledar and Pavlovka, they lost more than half of their original soldiers.

Meanwhile, Ukraine also launched a powerful air attack on the Crimean peninsula, targeting a major Russian ammunition storage site. The warehouse, near the village of Perevalnoye, belonged to the 126th coastal defence brigade of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. Reports say the depot held weapons, fuel, and military equipment.

Photos show a massive blast with a huge fire and thick black smoke rising into the sky. A group called Atesh, which supports Ukraine from inside Crimea, said several Russian soldiers guarding the site were killed in the strike.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence said they shot down 43 drones over the Black Sea and another 21 over Crimea, but the damage had already been done.
