Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘outrageous demand for how staff address them’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of insisting staff address them as ‘sir or ma’am’ – with one source claiming they are ‘basically living by the rules of American aristocracy’

Despite stepping down from the Royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly insisted that their staff address them as “sir or ma’am”, according to an insider. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left The Firm five years ago and have since been critical of various members of the Royal family.

Despite this, the source claimed that Harry and Meghan continue to uphold their titles. “I think ultimately it’s cachet and sets them apart as different and special,” the source suggested.

Those involved in the production of Archetypes and Harry’s book tour alleged they were “instructed to address the couple as sir or ma’am.”

However, the request for formal address was “dropped in one instance” after someone objected, the source revealed. They also proposed a possible reason why Harry and Meghan requested to be addressed as sir and ma’am.

“In the US, success, money, fame, all of that stuff exists out here. But a blood title, it’s few and far between,” the source told Vanity Fair. The source also suggested that Meghan’s inner circle – including socialite Delfina Blaquier, fashion designer Tracy Robbins and activist Kelly McKee Zajfen – are “basically living by the rules of ‘American aristocracy’.”, reports the Mirror US.

The source suggested Meghan’s friends “look down on people who are very public, too thirsty.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the claims made by the source.

However, it is believed they are “distressed” by the allegations.

“Things aren’t easy for them right now. Vanity Fair have succeeded in making a bad time worse,” a source close to the couple revealed to The Daily Beast. This isn’t the first instance where Meghan and Harry have faced allegations of requesting to be addressed as sir and ma’am.

Scott Moore, the CEO of the Invictus Games, previously claimed he was told, “Ma’am is fine.”

He was also informed that a simple “Sir” would suffice when addressing Harry. It’s customary to greet male members of the Royal family as Your Royal Highness initially, followed by Sir.

For female royals, it’s Your Royal Highness and then Ma’am.
