Migrants arrive in UK after crossing English Channel in misty conditions

Photos showed a Border Force boat arriving at the port in Dover, moving slowly through the misty weather. Once it docked, passengers on board were met by officials at the port, who guided them safely ashore.

On Tuesday, a group of people believed to be migrants was seen wearing life jackets as they were brought to Dover by the Border Force. The journey took place in foggy and damp conditions, making the sea crossing even more challenging. Officials were on hand to assist them as they arrived.

According to weather reports from the Met Office, the sea conditions were expected to remain calm for most of the day, but with some rain and patches of fog rolling in later.

This latest group of arrivals follows a recent incident on Friday, where 183 people made the journey across the English Channel on three small boats. These crossings continue to highlight the risks people are taking to reach the UK.

So far this year, a total of 890 people have crossed the Channel to the UK. This is a significant rise compared to the same time last year, when 621 crossings were recorded—an increase of 43%. The rising numbers reflect the ongoing challenges and complexities of managing migration across the Channel.

The crossings are a reminder of the dangerous routes many people take in search of safety and better opportunities. Despite the fog and mist, the migrants’ determination to reach the UK has remained steadfast.
