King Charles Shocks the World With His Biggest Regrets About Being a Monarch

King Charles still feels a deep sense of regret over the pain and sadness caused by his divorce from Princess Diana. According to someone close to the royal family, even now, many years later, he struggles with the memories of how things unfolded.

Charles and Diana’s marriage officially ended in August 1996, after they reached an agreement a month earlier. They had been married for 15 years, but over time, problems grew too large to fix. The insider explained that both Charles and Diana made mistakes during their marriage  mistakes that were painful and hard for anyone to defend. However, looking back, the insider said it’s important to try to understand what both of them were going through at the time.

Reflecting on that period, the insider also said that expecting someone to sacrifice their personal happiness just to maintain a perfect public image now seems incredibly unfair and cruel. In the end, both Charles and Diana were trapped by the enormous pressures of royal life and public expectations.

Camilla, now Queen Camilla, was also at the center of public attention during those difficult years. A close friend of Camilla’s shared that, even though she was once extremely unpopular with the public after Diana and Charles separated, Camilla never thought about leaving Charles. According to her friend, Camilla remained fully committed to him, no matter how difficult things became.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are about to celebrate a major milestone — their 20th wedding anniversary. They married in 2005 after facing significant obstacles. An ex-courtier explained that two major issues had to be dealt with before the wedding could happen: whether Queen Elizabeth II and the Church of England would give their approval. These were not small challenges. The Church’s stance was especially sensitive because both Charles and Camilla had been previously married.

A key figure at the time was the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams. He was reluctant to allow Charles and Camilla to marry in a church ceremony. This created tension and uncertainty around how the marriage would be recognized by the Church and the monarchy.

In the end, a compromise was reached. Charles and Camilla had a civil wedding ceremony at the Guildhall in Windsor. Though Queen Elizabeth II did not attend the actual wedding ceremony, she later joined the couple at a blessing ceremony at St George’s Chapel and gave a supportive speech at the reception, showing her acceptance.

As they approach their anniversary on April 9, King Charles and Queen Camilla plan to celebrate by attending a prestigious black-tie State Banquet. The event will be hosted by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, where they will be the guests of honour.

Despite all the challenges they have faced over the years — from public disapproval to religious hurdles — Charles and Camilla have built a lasting partnership. Their journey together is a reminder of how even in the royal family, love, resilience, and second chances can find a way through complicated history.
