Charles and Camilla are getting ready for another trip abroad. The royal couple will be visiting Canada from May 26 to 27. During their visit, King Charles will officially open Canada’s Parliament in Ottawa. They were supposed to visit last year, but the trip was canceled because Charles was diagnosed with cancer.
This announcement came shortly after Prince Harry lost an appeal related to his security in the UK. He challenged a decision that reduced the level of protection he receives when visiting the country.
The court ruled against him, saying the decision was fair and reasonable. Harry had argued that he was treated unfairly and that not enough was done to assess the risk to him and his family.
After the ruling, Harry gave an interview where he said he wants to make peace with his family. He said he doesn’t want to keep fighting and hopes for reconciliation, but said it’s up to them. He also mentioned that his father, King Charles, won’t talk to him because of the ongoing issues with security.
Buckingham Palace said the King couldn’t get involved in the legal case, as it was being handled by the government and courts.
Harry is also part of a legal case against the publisher of the Daily Mail, accusing them of gathering information illegally, like placing hidden microphones in cars and accessing private phone records. The publisher tried to get the case dismissed, but a judge ruled it could go ahead. A full trial may happen in 2026.
Harry had another legal case against News Group Newspapers, which publishes The Sun and used to publish News of the World. He accused them of hacking his phone and invading his privacy.
Before the trial started, they settled the case. The publisher apologized and agreed to pay Harry substantial damages. They also apologized for how they treated his mother, Princess Diana.
Harry said the main issue between him and his family is the ongoing situation about his personal security. He also mentioned there have been many disagreements, especially with his brother, Prince William.
Recently, Charles and Camilla went on a three-day visit to Italy. One key moment was a private meeting with Pope Francis, who passed away two weeks later. Prince William attended the funeral on behalf of the royal family.
