Keir Starmer vows MPs WILL vote on sending British soldiers to Ukraine as he prepares to deploy military top brass to Kyiv

The Conservative Party, Reform UK, and the Liberal Democrats had all asked the Prime Minister to make sure that Parliament is allowed to vote before any British troops are sent to Ukraine. They believe that such an important decision should not be made by the government alone, but should be discussed and agreed upon by all Members of Parliament.

In response, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, while speaking to a reporter from GB News in Paris, said that MPs will get a chance to vote if the UK ever plans to send troops to Ukraine for a long time. He explained that they are not yet at the stage of voting, as there is still a lot of planning and discussions going on with military leaders. But he made it clear that if the UK ever decides to deploy soldiers for a long-term mission, then Parliament will definitely be involved in making that decision.

Sir Keir Starmer and other European leaders had gathered in Paris for a special meeting called a “coalition of the willing.” At this meeting, they talked about how different countries can work together to support Ukraine. Starmer confirmed that military experts from the UK, France, and Germany will soon travel to Ukraine to help create practical plans in case a peace agreement is reached in the future.

These three countries are preparing so that when peace talks succeed and a deal is made, they will be ready to help make sure the peace is kept. Starmer said the UK and its allies want Ukraine to be safe and strong enough to protect itself in the future and stop any new attacks from happening.

French President Emmanuel Macron also spoke to the media. He said that he and Starmer agreed to send a joint UK-French team to Ukraine within a few days to work closely with Ukrainian officials. This team will focus on planning and cooperation between the countries’ militaries.

Starmer also said that the peace talks with Russia need a deadline. He accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of playing games and not taking the talks seriously. According to Starmer, the UK and its allies agreed that there should be a clear plan and a time limit to make real progress, and they would hold Russia accountable to that deadline.

He added that they’re ready to do more to support peace, help Ukraine, and put more pressure on Russia to get serious about ending the war.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia had broken the current ceasefire by launching attacks on energy facilities in Ukraine. He said a power station in the Kherson region was hit in today’s strikes and urged the United States to respond. Russia, however, claimed that it has respected the ceasefire on energy targets since March 18.
