Donald Trump mocks Keir Starmer with impersonation at White House moments after ripping into French leader

Donald Trump mocked UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a private lunch at the White House, continuing his pattern of criticizing European leaders after previously targeting Emmanuel Macron.

The comments came as tensions remain high following military action involving the US and Israel against Iran. After the attacks, Iran responded with missile strikes across the Middle East and shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a key route that carries about 20% of the world’s oil. This caused oil prices to jump above $100 a barrel, adding more pressure to the global economy.

Trump has been openly frustrated with European allies for not fully supporting the military action. During the lunch, he singled out Starmer and even mocked him by copying his voice in an exaggerated and weak tone.

He claimed he had asked the UK to support the conflict by sending what he described as “two old, broken-down aircraft carriers.” According to Trump, Starmer responded by saying he would need to consult his team first. Trump ridiculed this, saying that as prime minister, he shouldn’t need approval from others, and joked that by the time any decision was made, the war would already be over.

The incident reportedly happened on April 1 and was livestreamed by the White House, even though journalists were not allowed to attend the meeting. The video was later made private, but not before it was downloaded and shared online by a reporter.

This came shortly after Trump also made fun of a viral 2025 clip involving Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron. Trump joked that Macron was “still recovering,” which led Macron to respond by calling the remarks inappropriate and lacking class.

A White House spokesperson later said Trump has made it clear he is disappointed with the UK and other NATO allies, warning that the United States “will remember” their response.
