Donald Trump might be assassinated while relaxing in the sun at Mar-a-Lago, an Iranian official has warned.

A top Iranian official has made a chilling threat against former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying he could be assassinated while sunbathing at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Mohammad-Javad Larijani, a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said on Iranian television that Trump has “done something” so serious that he can no longer safely relax outdoors. Larijani warned that even a small drone could easily strike Trump in the stomach while he lies in the sun, suggesting how simple it would be to target him.

This threat comes after years of rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran, especially under Trump’s leadership. In 2018, Trump pulled the U.S. out of the nuclear deal that President Obama had negotiated with Iran, a move that angered Iranian leaders and made relations worse.

Things escalated dramatically in 2020 when Trump ordered the drone strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, one of Iran’s most powerful military generals, while he was in Iraq. That attack sparked outrage in Iran and led to vows of revenge.

Since then, Trump has faced multiple assassination threats. U.S. prosecutors believe the Iranian government planned an assassination attempt against him before the 2024 election. A man named Farhad Shakeri was charged with trying to arrange the killing and with helping a foreign terrorist group, but he is still on the run and is believed to be in Iran.

The tensions between the U.S. and Iran are not happening in isolation. The entire Middle East has become more unstable, especially after the war broke out in Gaza in October 2023 when Hamas attacked Israel. Since then, Israel has launched attacks not only on Hamas but also on other Iranian-backed groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen. These groups have responded with their own strikes, and the violence has spread across the region.

The U.S. has also gotten involved more directly. Just last month, after Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities, the U.S. launched its own strikes on three Iranian sites. While the U.S. president claimed that Iran’s nuclear program had been “obliterated,” American intelligence reports have suggested that the damage might not have been as severe as claimed, adding to the confusion and anxiety over what comes next.

All of this has made people fear that the region is on the brink of an even larger war — possibly one that involves nuclear powers like the U.S., Israel, and Iran. The situation is so tense that every move by one country risks triggering a bigger conflict.

Meanwhile, Trump, even though he’s no longer in office, remains a key figure in all this. His actions while president, especially against Iran, have put him in a dangerous position.

He has survived past assassination attempts, including one in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024. But now, with top Iranian figures openly threatening him on television and tensions at an all-time high, security around him has become even more critical.

Trump has continued to make aggressive statements, including alleged threats to bomb major cities, which only further inflames his enemies. Iran’s government is not hiding its anger, calling him an “enemy of God” and even issuing religious rulings against him with harsh punishments.

As the U.S., Iran, Israel, and other players keep clashing, Trump finds himself at the center of a dangerous storm that could have deadly consequences. Even while at home in Florida, he cannot escape the reach of global politics and the enemies he made during his time in power. The fear is that with the region so close to exploding into wider war, even one attack or one misstep could change everything overnight.
