Doctor Shuts down GB News star in trans row with three-word chilling rebuttal

Prime Minister Keir Starmer shared his thoughts on a recent Supreme Court ruling that officially defines a woman as an “adult female.” He said he was happy with the decision because it gives clear guidance, especially for those who need to write rules and policies. This was a big moment, as it showed a shift in his previous approach to transgender matters.

This decision followed protests by members of the transgender community and their allies, who disagreed with the court’s ruling. The debate grew even more heated on GB News when political commentator Nigel Nelson got into an argument with Dr Renee Hoenderkamp about what the ruling really means.

Nigel Nelson said the court stepped in because the situation in Scotland had become confusing. He explained that the court basically ruled that biological sex cannot be changed. Although the court didn’t force any organization to change its rules, it made it legally safe for them to do so if they wanted. For example, in women’s sports, it could now be legally acceptable to not allow trans women to compete in female categories.

Host Miriam Cates added that if someone is offering a single-sex service, it now has to be exactly that—just for one sex. Dr Hoenderkamp took this further by saying that the ruling makes gender recognition certificates useless. She explained that gender is not the same as sex—gender is more about how people live and present themselves, while sex is biological. Because of that, she believes all official records, like those from police or hospitals, should reflect a person’s biological sex, not their gender identity.

They then discussed what should happen next. Nigel Nelson said the Gender Recognition Act might need to be updated. Dr Hoenderkamp disagreed and said the law should be completely scrapped. She pointed out that people can still legally change their birth certificate or passport to reflect a new gender, which causes confusion.

To make her point clearer, Dr Hoenderkamp gave an example. She said if someone legally changes their gender from female to male and visits her as a doctor with stomach pain, she might not consider ovarian cancer as a cause because their records say they’re male. That could lead to missing a serious diagnosis. She argued that such situations prove the system is flawed and dangerous.

In the end, Dr Hoenderkamp said she has no problem with how people choose to live or present themselves. If someone wants to dress or look like a woman, that’s their choice. But she strongly believes that official data should be based on biological facts. She said accurate data is essential for planning things like hospitals, prisons, and schools. Without that, she warned, society will face serious challenges.
