Marianne Kilonzi, 43, a Vice President at Citibank, was found dead in her home in Woolwich, south-east London, on Friday, January 17. A post-mortem examination later confirmed she died from blunt force trauma and a head injury.

Police were called to Marianne’s home at around 5:25 PM after concerns were raised about her welfare. When officers arrived, they found her body. Marianne was a senior executive in Citibank’s Treasury and Trade Solutions department, a global role based in London.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made so far. Detectives believe the person responsible for her death likely knew her. They are currently examining her home and speaking with her family, friends, and colleagues as part of the inquiry.

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren, leading the investigation, said: “This is a heartbreaking case, and our thoughts are with Marianne’s loved ones during this difficult time. We are working closely with her family, who are being supported by specialist officers.”

She added: “We understand the community may be worried, but at this stage, we believe the suspect knew Marianne, and there is no risk to the wider public. We are moving quickly with our investigation and urge anyone with information to call 101, quoting reference CAD 5231/17Jan.”

A spokesperson for Citibank said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. Our thoughts are with Marianne’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
