Yorkshire Wildlife Park Breaks Silence With New Statement After Tiger Killed Man Who Climbed Into Its Enclosure, Reveals What Will Happen to the Tiger After Many People Asked About Its Fate

Yorkshire Wildlife Park has released a new statement after a man was killed by a tiger when he entered its enclosure, revealing what will happen to the animal following the tragic incident.
The heartbreaking incident happened on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster, England.
According to South Yorkshire Police, emergency services received reports at around 1:35pm that a man had entered the tiger enclosure. Reports suggest he climbed over a fence to get into the area where the dangerous animal was being kept.
Shortly after entering the enclosure, the man was attacked by the tiger, leaving him with serious injuries.
Police officers, ambulance crews and medical workers rushed to the scene to try to save his life. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the wildlife park.
His family was informed about the tragedy and is receiving support from specially trained police officers.
Following the incident, many people began asking questions about what would happen to the tiger involved in the attack.
Some were worried that the animal might be put down because it had killed a person.
However, Yorkshire Wildlife Park has now confirmed that the tiger, named Altai, is alive, healthy and will not be put down because of what happened.
In a statement released on Sunday, October 11, the park thanked members of the public who had expressed concern following the tragedy.
The management also sent its condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life.
The park explained that many people had contacted them to ask about Altai and wanted to know whether the tiger would be allowed to live.
Officials reassured the public that the animal was safe and well, making it clear that there were no plans to euthanise it following the incident.
Altai is an Amur tiger, also known as a Siberian tiger. This type of tiger is endangered and is among the largest wild cats in the world.
The animal arrived at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in March 2025 after being transferred from a zoo in Norway.
The tragic incident has also had a serious emotional effect on workers at the wildlife park, particularly those who witnessed what happened or were involved in responding to the emergency.
Management confirmed that the park remained closed on Sunday to allow affected staff members to receive specialist support.
Videos of the incident have also appeared on social media, showing what seem to be some of the frightening moments inside the tiger enclosure.
In one video, the man appears to be close to the tiger before the situation turns dangerous. Another recording reportedly captures him asking people to take a photograph of him with the animal.
However, police have urged members of the public not to share the disturbing footage out of respect for the man and his grieving family.
South Yorkshire Police also confirmed that the tiger was not injured during the incident and remained inside its enclosure, meaning there was no wider danger to the public.
The incident has raised questions about how someone could get into an enclosure containing such a powerful and dangerous animal.
Investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Meanwhile, Yorkshire Wildlife Park is expected to reopen on Monday, October 12, although it is not yet clear whether visitors will immediately be allowed back into the tiger attraction.
For now, the park has made one thing clear: Altai the tiger will remain alive, while staff and the family of the man who died continue to deal with the tragedy.
