EXPOSED: the public is paying for Keir Starmer’s in-laws to live virtually rent-free in London

Keir Starmer is facing strong criticism after reports revealed that his relatives are living in his family house in London almost rent-free, and it’s all happening while the public is paying for his current home as Prime Minister. This has made a lot of people upset because it looks like his family is benefiting from public money meant to support the Prime Minister’s work—not to help his personal life.

As Prime Minister, Starmer is given free housing in central London and also gets to use a fancy country home. On top of that, he receives £30,000 a year from taxpayers to help fix and maintain the official Prime Minister’s residence at Downing Street. Because he doesn’t need to live in his own house while staying in the official residence, he has allowed his sister-in-law and her family to move into his private four-bedroom house in Kentish Town, one of the more expensive areas of London.

The rent they pay is extremely low—what’s known as a “peppercorn rent,” which basically means it’s a very small amount just to make the arrangement legal. Because the rent is under £10,000 per year, he doesn’t have to declare it publicly. But this small rent means his relatives are living in a luxury area for a price similar to what someone in council housing would pay—around £192 a week. In comparison, a similar home in that neighborhood would cost about £1,000 a week, or more than £50,000 a year. That’s a massive difference, and many people are angry that public money is helping Starmer’s family save tens of thousands of pounds every year.

People are saying that this shows Starmer might not be in politics to help others, but to help himself and the people close to him. Since becoming Labour leader and now Prime Minister, critics say he’s accepted a lot of expensive gifts—from clothing to access to holiday homes—given by wealthy donors and businessmen. Since 2019, he’s received over £100,000 in gifts and free services, putting him at the top of the list for accepting freebies among MPs.

Many feel that Starmer is not truly standing up for the working class or vulnerable people. Some are very disappointed by the way he has handled issues like the war in Gaza, where he refused to call out the suffering of innocent people, and by the way he’s cut support for people in need in the UK. He’s even been accused of moving the Labour Party closer to right-wing ideas and has faced criticism for echoing views once associated with racist politicians like Enoch Powell.

People who once trusted Starmer are now questioning his true goals. They say it’s not right for someone who talks about fairness and helping the country to be living such a privileged life, especially when his family is enjoying huge savings while others are struggling to afford rent or pay bills. The situation has left many feeling angry and betrayed. They believe that leaders should set an example, not quietly arrange deals that help their own relatives while the rest of the country is told to tighten their belts.
