King Charles’s Neighbor Drops 5-Word Bombshell on His True Personality

14views

A close neighbour of King Charles has shared what it’s like living near the monarch and gave some insight into the King’s personal habits. Lord David Cholmondeley, the seventh Earl of Cholmondeley, lives just a short distance from Sandringham, King Charles’ country estate in Norfolk, where the King and Queen Camilla like to spend holidays and Christmas.

In an interview, Lord Cholmondeley said that while they aren’t exactly close friends, they do occasionally meet when the King is in the area. He described King Charles as a “wonderful neighbour” and praised his strong work ethic, saying, “He never seems to stop.” According to the Earl, the King enjoys peaceful time in the countryside and is especially fond of planting trees.

Lord Cholmondeley lives at Houghton Hall, an impressive historic estate known for its art exhibitions. Over the years, the hall has hosted modern artists like Damien Hirst and Anish Kapoor. Recently, it featured an exhibition by Antony Gormley, known for his unique sculptures. Lord Cholmondeley said the King found the exhibition interesting, although he admitted their tastes in art are quite different.

Houghton Hall has deep roots in British history. It was originally built by Sir Robert Walpole, Britain’s first Prime Minister, who became the first Earl of Orford. In the 18th century, the estate was famous for royal visits and lively hunting parties. After several generations, the house eventually came into the Cholmondeley family through a marriage between Walpole’s daughter Mary and the third Earl Cholmondeley. The family has owned it ever since.

Today, Houghton Hall sits just a few miles from both Sandringham and Anmer Hall, where Prince William and Princess Kate often spend their holidays. The area has long been a favourite royal retreat, filled with history, quiet countryside, and long-standing family connections.
