Prince Andrew could face more embarrassment as new documents related to Jeffrey Epstein are released. The first batch of files, published by the U.S. Department of Justice, mostly contained old information, but reports suggest more documents will be made public in the coming weeks.
Florida-based lawyer Spencer Kuvin, who has represented several of Epstein’s victims, believes Andrew should be worried about what might be in the new files. Even though much of his connection to Epstein is already well known, there is always the possibility that new details could emerge that could make things worse for him.
Historian and commentator Alexander Larman noted that Andrew might think the worst is behind him, but that may not be the case. There could still be information in the upcoming documents that further damages his reputation. Author Phil Dampier also believes that Andrew’s ties to Epstein will never stop affecting him. Any mention of his name in these files, even if no new accusations are made, could deal another serious blow to his hopes of returning to public life.
Andrew has admitted that he was friends with Epstein but has strongly denied any wrongdoing. He has particularly rejected allegations from Virginia Giuffre, who claims she was trafficked by Epstein and was forced into sexual activity with Andrew on three occasions. Andrew has insisted that he never met her, despite a widely circulated photo that appears to show them together.
Larman pointed out that for many people, the controversy surrounding Andrew’s relationship with Epstein has been known for years. Unless new evidence of criminal behavior is revealed, the upcoming documents may not contain anything shocking. However, they will still serve as a reminder of his poor judgment in associating with Epstein, a man who was later convicted of sex crimes. Even if the new files do not bring fresh allegations, they will likely keep Andrew’s name linked to the scandal, making it difficult for him to rebuild his image.
Dampier said that Andrew made a huge mistake by continuing to meet with Epstein even after he had been convicted. The fact that he stayed at Epstein’s house after his release from prison was particularly damaging. That decision has already cost him his royal duties and public standing, and any new mention of his name in these documents will only make it harder for him to recover.
Despite stepping back from royal duties and keeping a low profile, Andrew has reportedly been hoping for a return to public life. However, each time new information about Epstein’s case is released, it reminds the public of his past mistakes. Many experts believe that as long as his name is tied to this scandal, any chance of making a comeback remains unlikely.
